Sheriff's report

MONDAY

8:40 a.m., East Sonora — A caller said a man was living in his car at a dirt parking lot at The Junction shopping center.

10:21 a.m., Twain Harte — A caller said three men were arguing in front of Twain Harte Market, on the 18700 block of Tiffeni Drive.

11:17 a.m., Standard area — Four hub caps, a dashboard cover and a saw were reported stolen from Sierra Restorations on the 19500 block of Industry Way.

12:49 p.m., Tuolumne — A woman said her purse containing her wallet, checks and medication was stolen from her on Saturday.

2:50 p.m., Groveland — A Tioga High School administrator asked a deputy to talk to a student who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

5:36 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 11000 block of Highway 108 said the front door to her home was kicked in, but did not know when it occurred.

8 p.m., Columbia — A caller said a man was laying on the ground near the entrance to a Columbia coin laundry who said he was "waiting to die."

8:56 p.m., Quail Hollow — A caller said people were at an apartment on the 12900 block of Chukar Circle listening to loud music and smoking marijuana on a porch.

9:36 p.m., Standard area — A 56-year-old man was booked on suspicion of public drunkenness after an arrest at a bar on the 14500 block of Tuolumne Road.

11:12 p.m., Groveland — A Yosemite National Park dispatcher said a white vehicle was parked on Cherry Oil Road about three miles from Cherry Lake, but the driver was not around.

TODAY

12:43 Sonora — A 25-year-old Sonora woman accused of hitting her boyfriend with a telephone was booked on suspicion of felony battery after arrest on the 300 block of South Washington Street, Sonora. She remained in custody this morning in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Sonora Police Reports

MONDAY

3:12 a.m., theft — A man on the 300 block of North Washington Street said a woman stole the battery out of the caller's electric cart but that she got it back.

9:28 a.m., theft — A man walked into Sun Waelty Auto on the 500 block of South Washington Street and mumbled something about a battery not working and took one from the showroom. He walked out of the store, put it in his cab of his pickup and drove away.

10:44 a.m., found property — A woman said she found a large, black duffel bag with numerous items in it in the bushes next to a building on Morning Star Drive.

3:06 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury crash was reported on the 60 block of South Washington Street.

4:16 p.m., traffic accident — A non-injury crash was reported on South Washington Street.

6:50 p.m., public intoxication — A 50-year-old man passed out in a vehicle on the 100 block of Hospital Road was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

Fire

YESTERDAY

11 p.m., Big Hill — A 1990 Mazda RX7 was reported on fire at an undisclosed address on Big Hill Road. Cause has not been determined. Greg Knowles of Sonora owns the vehicle. Damage was estimated at $400. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department and Columbia Fire Protection District responded.

Sheriff's report

MONDAY

11:32 a.m., West Point — A caller on the 400 block of Bald Mountain Road asked a deputy to talk to possible trespassers on the property.

1:35 p.m., West Point — A woman on the 2000 block of Railroad Flat Road said her car was stolen but returned by a relative and now the relative was causing a disturbance.

9:44 p.m., Valley Springs — A man on the 2000 block of Dale Drive said he heard a loud pop, then realized someone tried to blow up his mailbox.

YESTERDAY

1:40 p.m., Murphys — Benjamin Laurence Bishop, 19, undisclosed address on 26th Street, Sacramento, booked on suspicion of vehicle theft and receiving stolen property after an arrest on Murphys Grade Road by a Calaveras County Sheriff's deputy. No details were available. He was held this morning in lieu of $30,000 bail.

9:25 p.m., West Point — A 28-year-old West Point man booked on suspicion of battery, damaging a telephone line and misdemeanor resisting arrest after an arrest at his home. He was held this morning in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Gregory Anthony Martinez, 39, undisclosed address in Tollhouse, Fresno County, booked at 12:10 a.m. today after arrest on Highway 49 and Pine Street, Angels Camp.
