CALAVERAS COUNTY

The Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

TUESDAY

10:58 a.m., Murphys — A purse was stolen on Church Street.

2:35 p.m., West Point — A vehicle was vandalized on Woodhouse Mine Road.

4:33 p.m., Mountain Ranch — A canoe was stolen on Baker Riley Way.

WEDNESDAY

6:52 a.m., Copperopolis — Someone egged a residence on Oak Wood Court between the hours of 9 p.m. and midnight.

TUOLUMNE COUNTY

The Sonora Police Department reported the following:

TUESDAY

7:57 a.m., warrant arrests — A 71-year-old man was booked into Tuolumne County Jail for a misdemeanor warrant on suspicion of failing to appear in court and possessing an open alcohol container in public, after an arrest at Courthouse Square.

2:31 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A man bothering customers at a business on South Forest Road was told to leave the area. The 39-year-old man was arrested about 10 minutes later at South Forest and Stockton roads for a misdemeanor warrant on suspicion of failing to appear in court and elder abuse. He was booked into Tuolumne County Jail.

2:51 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A man said someone was trying to photograph him in the restroom at a business on Sanguinetti Road. An officer was planning to conduct a follow up investigation.

4:04 p.m., any civil problem — Someone has been dumping garbage illegally into a large metal trash bin on South Barretta Street. An officer determined the issue was a civil dispute, not a crime.

5:40 p.m., reckless driving — A man in a ball cap driving a gold sedan almost hit a woman as she was unloading groceries from her vehicle on North Washington Street. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen going north on Stewart Street.

9:47 p.m., controlled substances — An officer pulled over a 28-year-old man riding a bicycle on South Washington Street. The man was cited on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

TUESDAY

8:20 a.m., Tuolumne — Someone said a green Chevrolet pickup has been dumping trash in a large metal trash bin every week at apartments on Tuolumne Road.

9:01 a.m., Sonora area — A man said two loose dogs killed his neighbor’s dog on Mormon Creek Road.

10:42 a.m., Jamestown — A woman on Maple Alley said she was sitting outside smoking Monday night and a woman with a butcher knife threatened to stab her if she didn’t hand over her pack of cigarettes.

10:59 a.m., Sonora area — A shed was burglarized at Jack Page and Old Sonora Columbia roads.

1:43 p.m., Jamestown — Someone cut the lock on a van at Rawhide and Shell roads and stole items from it.

11:18 p.m., Sonora area — A sheriff’s deputy stopped a man and woman with an empty suitcase and a wheelchair at Mono Way and Cameron Lane. The man said they were just going for a walk but couldn’t explain why they needed an empty suitcase. They were told to go home.

Felony bookings

TUESDAY

7:54 p.m., Jamestown — Mikael Walter Soper, 25, of the 2100 block of Jackson Avenue, Escalon, was booked on suspicion of possessing a dangerous weapon and drugs, after an arrest at a business on Highway 108.

9:52 p.m., Jamestown — Victor Chavez, 31, of the 3400 block of Ninth Street, Ceres, was booked on suspicion of drug possession, after an arrest at Chicken Ranch Road and Jeanese Drive.
