Sheriff's reports

TUESDAY

9:17 a.m., Sonora — A library clerk said $233.80 was stolen from the Tuolumne County Library on Greenley Road. There was no sign of forced entry.

11:30 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 11000 block of Golf Links Road said a concrete bird bath and other lawn ornaments were smashed in her driveway overnight.

1:50 p.m., Tuolumne — A woman on the 18000 block of Birch Street said a strange package was on her doorstep. Neither she nor her husband recognized the return address.

2:27 p.m., Columbia — The manager of Sierra Commons Apartments on the 11000 block of State Street said a tenant has plugged an extension cord into a common laundry room outlet to his own apartment.

4:23 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 18800 block of Jamestown Road said a ceramic owl yard ornament valued at $50 and some ramps were stolen from her yard.

6:15 p.m., Sonora area — A caller said a man had been sleeping in a blue car parked on the 20000 block of Cedar Road for over three hours.

8:47 p.m., Soulsbyville — A wallet was stolen from a vehicle parked on the the 20600 block of Soulsbyville Road.

9:22 p.m., Twain Harte — A man on the 22000 block of South Fork Road said three people assaulted him and took his money.

WEDNESDAY

1:56 a.m., Jamestown — The driver of a car that spun out and hit an embankment on Highway 108 at Golf Links Road fled the scene.

10:41 a.m., Dodge Ridge — A Dodge Ridge employee said the ski area received a possible counterfeit $100 bill.

12:07 p.m., Sonora — A woman on the 13000 block of Beckwith Road said her brother was going through her things looking for property that belonged to their mother.

12:58 p.m., Jamestown — A man said bee hives he keeps on private property near Jacksonville Road have been damaged.

1:27 p.m., Curtis Creek Ranch — A man on Curtis Circle said poachers on his neighbor's property shot and killed two deer and were loading the dead animals into their vehicle. The neighbor took off after the men, but they got away.

2:26 p.m., Groveland — A man on the 10800 block of Yosemite Springs Road said a yellow powder had been sprayed into a mailbox.

4:10 p.m., Tuolumne — A caller said a man on the 18600 block of Pine Street was acting strange, possibly under the influence of something.

4:49 p.m., East Sonora — A vehicle parked on the 12900 block of Mt. View Drive was vandalized.

8:35 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman said man tried to light her hair on fire while the two were in front of a store on the 22900 block of Joaquin Gully Road. The 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness.

11:33 p.m., Columbia area — A woman on the 22800 block of Four Wheel Drive said her son saw a man sleeping in a shed behind her house. The son threw a bottle of nail polish at the man, who took off running.

THURSDAY

2:29 a.m., Columbia area — A woman on the 21900 block of Springfield Road said a man knocked on her door screaming he was going to kill himself. The man had a razor blade and was walking toward Highway 49.

2:54 a.m., Don Pedro area — A Fleming Meadow Campground security officer said a group of people were fighting and one man was chasing another around with pair of scissors.

2:57 p.m., East Sonora — A woman on the 19600 block of Pine Road said a man with dark hair and dirty clothing followed her home and asked about trimming trees and feeding squirrels. The man left in a white car before a deputy arrived.

7:10 a.m., Twain Harte — A man on the 22700 block of Twain Harte Drive said a man and a woman were outside his apartment screaming about drugs. The two left before a deputy arrived.

4:59 p.m., Pinecrest — A man said while he was at Pinecrest Lake he was attacked by four men driving a gray sedan. The man said the four men parked their car and the man could not get his vehicle out. When he asked them to move the car, one man hit him in the face, possibly breaking his nose.

7:24 p.m., Jamestown — A woman on the 16000 block of Chicken Ranch Road said a strange car was parked at the end of her driveway.

8:14 p.m., Columbia — A man on the 22600 block of Parrotts Ferry Road said he found a camera on his property.

10:24 p.m., East Sonora — A man on the 14300 block of Mono Way said someone was trying to break into a business.

10:39 p.m., Gibbs Ranch area — A woman on the 10800 block of Race Track Road said she saw lights on at vacant neighbor's house. When she went to the house a few moments later the lights were off and a strange package was left on the doorstep.

Felony bookings

TUESDAY

2:45 p.m., East Sonora — Jared Levi Klein, 23, no address given, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale and sale of a controlled substance and misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after arrest on the 13900 block of Tuolumne Road.

According to a sheriff's report, a man reported an unfamiliar car in his driveway. A responding deputy talked to Klein, searched him and arrested him.

Klein remained in jail this morning, held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

WEDNESDAY

3:12 p.m., Twain Harte — Ashley Suzanne Carothers, 24, 21900 block of Douglasville Mine Road, Columbia area, and Nathaniel Thomas Carney, 21300 block of Crestview Drive, Crystal Falls, both booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after an arrest at a motel on the 22000 block of Meadow Lane.

Carothers was also booked on misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, a hypodermic needle and drug paraphernalia. Carney was also booked on misdemeanor false impersonation.

No details were available. Both remained in jail this morning, each held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

9:56 p.m., Jamestown — Robert Donnell Haire IV, 46, no address, booked on suspicion of burglary and a felony parole hold after an arrest on the 10300 block of Preston Lane.

According to a sheriff's report, a woman said a neighbor called her and told her someone was in her apartment. The woman went home and heard noises in the apartment and called the Sheriff's Department. She told a deputy the lock had recently been changed and she didn't have a key so she left the front door open while she was away. When a deputy arrived he got a key from the apartment manager, went inside and found Haire on the kitchen floor eating a bowl of food, the report said.

The woman said she did not know Haire and did not give him permission to be in her apartment. Haire remained in jail this morning, held without bail.

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Jose Manuel Vera Jr., 37, 1900 block of Patterson Road, Riverbank, booked at 5:15 a.m. Thursday after arrest on La Grange Road seven miles south of Highway 120.

Sonora police reports

TUESDAY

1:34 a.m., traffic violations — A 43-year-old man was cited and released for driving with a suspended license after an officer stopped him on Restano Way at South Washington Street.

2:45 a.m., suspicious circumstances — A caller said a man was on 100 block of North Washington Street with a sleeping bag.

11:29 a.m., threats — A man, panhandling in front of a business in Timberhills shopping center, was asked to leave. The man then threatened the manager.

11:36 a.m., traffic accident — A man said his parked car was hit while he was shopping at Timberhills shopping center.

12:02 p.m., theft — A woman on the 200 block of South Barretta Street said various items have been taken from her house. She said it has been an ongoing problem.

3:15 p.m., traffic accident — No one was injured in a traffic accident on Sanguinetti Road.

3:09 p.m., found property — A caller found a BB gun near a fence on the lower field at Sonora Elementary School.

3:14 p.m., burglary — A caller on the 10 block of North Shepherd Street said items were stolen from a storage compartment underneath the house in the last week.

4:32 p.m. assault — A caller said a man was just assaulted in front of a store in Sonora Plaza shopping center. A be-on-the-lookout bulletin was issued for the attacker.

4:51 p.m., found property — A caller said a brand new red BMX bicycle was dumped on Sanguinetti Road.

6:48 p.m., public intoxication — A woman on the 200 block of North Washington Street said a man, who appeared to be drunk, was sitting on her steps.

8:37 p.m., vandalism — A caller said his vehicle window was shot out as he was driving south near the 100 block of Greenley Road.

TUESDAY

10:54 a.m., Murphys — A deputy intervened when two drivers got into an argument outside a store on Highway 4.

11:13 a.m., Sheep Ranch — A caller on the 7000 block of Rail Road Flat Road said a briefcase was stolen.

11:41 a.m., Valley Springs — All the money was reported stolen from a soda machine outside Longs Drugs.

12:30 p.m., Valley Springs — A spare tire, battery and Christmas tree were stolen from a business on the 20 block of California Street.

3:01 p.m., San Andreas — A woman at a convalescent hospital said someone was pretending to be Santa Claus and harassing her.

5:02 p.m., Jenny Lind — A woman on the 9000 block of Scenic Valley Road said she was angry because her neighbor yells at her for driving too slow.

7:20 p.m., Valley Springs — A house on the 7000 block of Westhill Road was burglarized.

11:10 p.m., Mountain Ranch — A woman on the 7000 block of Eagle View Drive said she heard cars screeching outside and someone trying to open her front door. A deputy arrived and couldn't find anyone.

WEDNESDAY

9:59 a.m., Burson — A tree was down on the 10 block of Evans Road.

12:03 a.m., Copperopolis — A rock slide blocked part of the road at the O'Byrnes Ferry bridge.

11:25 p.m., Arnold — A caller on the 1000 block of Manuel Road said a white pickup with different-colored doors was spinning donuts in a bank parking lot.

11:34 p.m., Jenny Lind — A caller on Milton Road reported illegal fireworks in the area.

9:59 a.m., Burson — A tree was down on the 10 block of Evans Road.

TUESDAY

1:25 p.m., Angels Camp — Steven Dwayne Almer, 37, Highway 49, Angels Camp, booked on suspicion of felony parole violation after arrest on the 700 block of Main Street. He was transported to another jail early today.

WEDNESDAY

3:02 a.m., Calaveras County — Edwin Joseph Williams, 23, of Ione, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and possessing or selling a dangerous weapon after arrest in Calaveras County. The location of his arrest was not provided. As of this morning, he remained in jail, held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Rita Kay Linker, 34, 1000 block of Finnager Lane, Angels Camp, booked at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday after arrest on Main Street in Vallecito.

Terry Rae Scott,18, 20000 block of Highway 26, West Point, booked at 7 p.m. Tuesday after arrest an an undisclosed location.
