A 55-year-old Twain Harte woman who died after a two-vehicle accident on Friday on Highway 108 near Peaceful Oak Road in East Sonora has been identified as Dorothy Ruth Wright.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Wright was heading east about 50 mph when her 2008 Honda drove off the south edge of the road and hit a guard rail. Her car then served quickly to the left, crossed the solid yellow line and went into the westbound lane in front of a 2006 Dodge being driven by Douglas Coke, 56, of Twain Harte.
The CHP said Coke was traveling about 55 mph and tried to avoid a crash. He hit the brakes but the other vehicle hit the right front of his Dodge. The collision drove both cars into the north shoulder and caused Coke’s truck to turn over, according to the CHP.
Both Coke and passenger Pamela Coke, also of Twain Harte, complained of minor pain.
Wright was not wearing a seatbelt, according to CHP.
