A Douglas Flat woman, injured last week when her vehicle collided with logging equipment on Highway 4, died Monday at a Modesto hospital.
Robin Owen-Harding, 42, was hurt Friday morning when the Dodge Ram pickup she was driving struck a large steel assembly that had broken loose from a truck tractor, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The truck tractor, driven by Donald Rector, 56, of Arnold, was entering a curve on Highway 4 near Hathaway Pines about 10 a.m. when the logging equipment it was towing shifted.
A steel assembly detached and was thrown into oncoming traffic, the CHP said.
Owen-Harding was taken by helicopter to Memorial North Medical Center in Modesto.
The trailer, meanwhile, overturned, spilling about 30 gallons of diesel fuel onto the ground, the CHP said. Authorities closed the road for 31/2 hours to clean up the mess.
Rector was not injured in the crash.
