A 90-year-old West Point woman suffered moderate injuries when she was hit by a pickup truck while walking on Main Street on Friday night.
The accident was reported about 5:30 p.m.
Harold Hallett, 60, of West Point, was driving a 1989 Dodge Ram pickup east on Main Street, west of Pine Street, about 15 mph when he rounded a sharp right turn in the road. He saw Mary Gebow, 90, walking in the middle of the road but was unable to stop before hitting her.
Gebow fell to the ground and hit her head. She was taken to Kaiser South in Sacramento for treatment.
Factors in the collision, CHP said, included the fact it was dark outside, Gebow was wearing dark clothing and she was walking in the middle of the road with her back to traffic. There’s a streetlight in the area, but it is dim, the CHP report noted.
The accident remains under investigation.
