Two killed in 49 wreck; girl, 10, hurt |
Two people were killed and a young girl suffered major injuries in an auto collision Saturday near San Andreas. The crash was reported at 12:55 p.m. Saturday on Highway 49, just south of Carol Kennedy Drive.
Penny Miles, 52, of Murphys, was driving her 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup south on the highway when her car crossed a double-yellow line into the opposing lanes of traffic and collided head-on with a northbound 1996 Chevy box truck driven by Eleazar Rodriguez, 49, of Galt, who was in the far lane. Miles and Rodriguez were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Rodriguez’s truck, a 10-year-old girl whose name was not released, suffered major injuries and was flown by helicopter to U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. CHP “suspects” Miles was intoxicated. |
