An apparent dispute that led to the closure of a chunk of the Downtown Plaza parking lot — and the installation of an imposing chain-link fence — could be resolved in coming days, according to one of the property owners.
The dispute revolves around use of the fenced off area by customers of plaza customers, according to property and business owners in the plaza.
The fence went up last week. It partitions a parcel owned by multiple members of the Dambacher family of Sonora, including local appraiser Michael Dambacher, county property records show.
The portions of the plaza sitting on either side of Dambacher property are owned by San Francisco-based real estate company Dwares Group.
The fence isn’t blocking access to any of the storefronts — like the “lower” Save Mart grocery store, Mother Lode Bank, Good Stuff thrift store, a laundromat, and a Round Table Pizza restaurant.
However, it blocks movement of traffic through the plaza and between the two entrances and exits.
