Lacking new clues, law enforcement officials have scaled back their search for a Sonora woman who disappeared six weeks ago, her car found at an overlook off Highway 108.
Patty Tolhurst, 46, of Sonora, was last seen leaving a park by a friend on April 18 in Tuolumne township, but wasn’t reported as missing until April 22, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office and Sonora police.
Investigators found her abandoned Toyota 4Runner at Donnell Vista. It was unlocked and her purse was inside.
Tolhurst’s former husband, Jeff Tolhurst, of Sonora, said the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office told him Thursday the Search and Rescue mission at the Donnells Vista area had been suspended until investigators receive more information.
“I don’t know if she is alive, or dead, if she is out there somewhere with a new identity, or if she is coming back — it is just a big mystery,” he said, explaining his main concern is helping his daughters, 9 and 11, cope with the disappearance of their mother.
