The Department of Veterans Affairs clinic in Sonora has closed until Monday due smoke from the Rim Fire, according to Michael Hill-Jackson, VA spokesman.
The clinic at 13663 Mono Way closed at noon Thursday so as not to encourage veterans to travel and expose themselves to the smoke from the Rim Fire.
The VA advises patients in serious medical need to call 911.
Those with appointments today or tomorrow were to be called this afternoon to reschedule.
The clinic was scheduled to open again Monday at regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., pending continuing air quality concerns.
