Sonora Regional Medical Center on Monday sent out a reminder to the community and patients that it has an agreement with Anthem Blue Cross for people who enrolled in the Covered California Exchange.
The agreement was effective July 1 and will retroactively cover disputed claims filed since Jan. 1.
The agreement clarifies a contract between Sonora Regional, its doctors and Anthem that runs through 2016. It should put an end to confusion among some Anthem customers who have gotten mixed messages about whether Anthem would or wouldn’t cover care by various doctors.
At this point, nearly a month after the agreement was inked, Anthem should be giving out correct information to patients and there hopefully won’t be more confusion, said Gail Witzlsteiner, hospital spokeswoman.
“We are pleased that members of Anthem Blue Cross Covered California now have complete network access to Sonora Regional Medical Center and its affiliated physician clinics,” said hospital President Andrew Jahn. “We are confident we have made the right agreement that supports our collective efforts and helps community members to access the providers they need. We welcome members of Anthem Covered California at all of our clinics throughout Tuolumne and Calaveras counties and at our hospital.”
With the new agreement, all affiliated physician clinics of Sonora Regional Medical Center can accept Anthem Blue Cross Individual Pathway PPO sold through the Covered California exchange, including: Angels Camp Family Medical Center, Angels Camp Orthopedics, Arnold Family Medical Center, Cedarwood Internal Medicine, Foothill Pediatrics, Foothill Specialty Group, Greenley Oaks ENT, Groveland Family Medical Center, Hillside Internal Medicine, Mountain Medical Family Practice, Sierra Cardiology, Sierra Internal Medicine, Sierra OB/GYN, Sierra Orthopedic Institute, Sierra Surgical Associates, Sierra Vascular Clinic and Yosemite Joint Replacement and Orthopedics.
Anthem Blue Cross Individual Pathway PPO members enrolled with a different medical group who want to re-enroll with a Sonora Regional Medical Center affiliated doctor should contact Anthem Blue Cross at the toll-free number on their insurance ID card, the hospital advised in a statement released Monday.
