A Manteca man drowned while swimming at South Lake Tulloch on Saturday.
At 6:38 p.m., the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man who went missing near the south shore of the lake.
A patrol deputy responded and learned that the man, Andrew William Duncan, 37, had been missing for roughly 30 minutes.
Duncan was at the lake with family and friends, who last saw him in the swimming area about 5 to 7 yards from shore.
Search and rescue and boat patrol personnel responded to the lake and searched the swimming area.
Crews located a body at 9:30 p.m., about 8 feet below the surface. Family and friends identified the body as Duncan.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jim Oliver said it is unclear how Duncan drowned.
Oliver said there were no signs of trauma or foul play, but an autopsy had not yet been conducted Monday afternoon.
He said a report of the incident did not indicate whether alcohol was a factor.
