Sentencing delayed in bomb threat case

A Tuolumne man convicted of planting a fake bomb outside the Tuolumne County Courthouse more than a year ago will be sentenced Wednesday.

Terry Paul Keever, 56, was found guilty by a jury on Nov. 30. He was scheduled to be sentenced in Superior Court on Friday.

The sentencing was continued to give the defense attorney more time to look over the probation report with Keever, according to District Attorney Mike Knowles.

Keever was arrested by the Sonora Police Department and booked into county jail on June 16 in connection with the fake bomb found at the Yaney Avenue building on Nov. 28, 2011.

The device was sent to a California Department of Justice crime lab, where DNA tests returned a match for him.

Keever was due in court on a charge of possession of stolen property on the day the bomb threat was made.

He was arrested on Nov. 21, 2011, after Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies searched his home and vehicle on the 20700 block of Ponderosa Way and found more than $9,000 worth of items reported missing from an East Sonora business earlier that day.

His sentencing will be held at 1:15 p.m. in Department 4.
