Angels Camp police arrested a 21-year-old San Andreas resident Wednesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a juvenile victim.
The Angels Camp Police Department received a report Tuesday alleging that a juvenile had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance of the victim's family, according to a news release.
Investigating officers questioned Jason David Anthony Roberts about 6:15 p.m. at his home on the 3000 block of Highway 49. The Angels Camp police news release stated Roberts confessed to sexually assaulting the child.
The officers subsequently placed Roberts under arrest and booked him into Calaveras County Jail on suspicion of multiple felony charges of sexual assault to a victim more than 10 years younger.
Roberts was still in custody at the jail this afternoon on $1.1 million bail. He was due to appear in Calaveras County Superior Court on Friday for an arraignment.
