Rep calls for Tulloch task force

By SCOTT PESZNECKER

Victoria Erickson, Calaveras County District 5 supervisor, wants to form a task force to help form long-term development guidelines at Tulloch Reservoir.

With about 20 Copperopolis residents in the audience — and Steve Felte, manager of Tri-Dam Project, the utilities district that manages the reservoir — Erickson at a Board of Supervisors study session yesterday outlined her plan for a task force composed of community members and county officials.

Erickson held a meeting with constituents at the Poker Flat subdivision in Copperopolis on Saturday. They talked about everything from a dock moratorium to boating safety at the reservoir.

Armed with information from that meeting, Erickson said the Tulloch task force would study the county's control over the reservoir, safety and law enforcement on the water, property rights of Tulloch area landowners and shoreline management guidelines.

"If the meeting on Saturday showed us anything, it was that more discussions need to be had concerning the many issues that are part of this area," Erickson wrote in a memo she handed out to supervisors.

Erickson then offered to lead the task force meetings. She said the group would meet five times, on April 3 and 24, May 22 and June 12 and 26.

The task force, Erickson proposed, would have one representative from each Copperopolis homeowners association: Conner Estates, Poker Flat, Saddle Creek, Copper Cove, Copper Meadows, Peninsula Estates and Copper Cove Unit 8-A.

The rest of the task force would have one member from the county administration office, the Sheriff's Department, Copperopolis Community Plan Advisory Committee, Planning Department, Building Department and the Board of Supervisors.

An audience member requested that Tuolumne County have a representative on the task force, which Erickson said she would consider.

Most supervisors supported the idea of a task force, as did county Planning Director Kim Hansen.
