PUBLIC MEETING: Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, Tuesday, 9 a.m. regular meeting and 1:30 p.m. study session, Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas.
The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will consider purchasing three patrol cars and a jail transport van at a price tag of $202,851 at Tuesday’s meeting.
The budget transfer of $4,179 from an inmate welfare designated fund to complete the purchase requires a four-fifths vote for approval.
The vehicles will be bought from Folsom Lake Ford and the transfer is necessary due to higher-than-budgeted costs to acquire the vehicles, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The board is also expected to approve contracts with El Dorado County to cut back its rent of four juvenile hall beds to two. The beds cost the county $100 per day whether filled or not and the county has not typically needed that many beds, according to Interim Chief Probation Officer Stephen Siegel.
The new contract calls for the county to pay $120 per day per additional bed if it needs more than two at a time.
A closed-door meeting is planned at 8 a.m. Tuesday to discuss the appointment of a new county administrative officer. John Blacklock is serving as interim CAO, seated in January after the retirement of Jeanne Boyce.
Blacklock is also leading recruitment efforts for hiring of a new CEO and the county conducted interviews April 12 for the position.
A 1:30 p.m. study session is scheduled to update progress on the Highway 4 “Wagon Trail” realignment between Angels Camp and Copperopolis, now expected to commence construction in 2018.
The board may also select a planning commissioner to represent District 5, the Rancho Calaveras-Jenny Lind area. That seat on the commission has been vacant since Greg Gustafson had to resign due to potential conflicts of interest after his November election to the Calaveras Unified School District Board of Trustees. District 5 residents Karen Sisk and David Tunno have applied to fill the vacancy.
