Nine in race for county board |
The field of potential candidates for Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors hasn’t grown in the past week, but those interested in running still have time before candidates become official.
The number of people who have initiated the process to run for supervisor remains at nine so far: Jim O’Neil, Patricia Adams and Karl Rodefer in District 5; Liz Bass, Jim Garaventa, Jim Hildreth, Randy Cofer and Sherri Brennan in District 1; and John Gray in District 4. The period to officially file as a Board of Supervisors candidate begins Feb. 13 and runs through March 9. Candidates in District 5, where Supervisor Dick Pland has announced he won’t seek re-election, get an extension through March 14, according to elections documents. Domenic Torchia, who opposed Pland the last time he ran, has also publicly stated he plans to run again. Those candidates who complete the official nomination process will appear on the June 5 primary election ballot. Other important dates for the primary election include April 9 to May 22, which is the period to declare as a write-in candidate, May 7-29, which is the period to apply for a mail ballot, and May 21, which is the last day to register to vote in the primary.
