City officials have closed Sonora’s Fire Museum and Senior Lounge, but remain tight-lipped as to why.
Sonora City Administrator Tim Miller said Monday that the chains and padlocks on the North Washington Street museum’s doors are only temporary.
The building, owned by the city, is usually open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“I’m hoping we can have the facility back open in a week to 10 days,” Miller said.
The reason for the closure remains unclear.
Miller would only say that a “couple of incidents” took place on site “in the last two or three months.”
