A Turlock man speeding through Jamestown on a stolen motorcycle Saturday afternoon suffered major injuries when he crashed the bike into the back of a car, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident was reported at 7:44 p.m. at Main Street, east of Highway 49.
Joshua Lankford, 26, was riding the 2007 Honda motorcycle on Highway 49 when a CHP officer began to pursue him for driving at an unsafe speed. The officer chased Lankford for about 11 miles, according to a CHP report.
Lankford failed to yield and turned off onto Main Street going about 60 mph, CHP said.
On Main, an eastbound 2005 Ford car had stopped to make the left turn into the Kwik Serv gas station. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the Ford.
Lankford was flown by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
The Ford’s driver, Joshua Puccio, 20, of Sonora, was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.
