Mother Lode Roundup: Coyote Sam strikes

Another Roundup season is upon us, complete with a head-turning mock shootout in Jamestown Saturday.

Bandit “Coyote Sam” and his outlaw toadies attempted to disrupt a visit to town by 2013 Mother Lode Roundup Queen Lorna Job and 2014 queen hopefuls Evon Meckler, Rachelle Snitchler, Sylvana Talamantes, Paige Ryan and Courtney Blackmore.

As is tradition, the queen and hopefuls chased off the bandits with a barrage of glitter and silly string.

The mock standoff is one of several events leading up to the annual Mother’s Day weekend Roundup parade and rodeo.

Coming days will bring a heist and a hunt for a buried item critical to the Roundup’s success.
