More details in homicide investigation

Stockton police Friday were questioning two other people in connection with a Stockton homicide, following the arrest Thursday of a suspect in the grisly slaying.

Two women, Valentina Paz, 49, and Teresa Holt, were each wanted for questioning in connection with the incident and were both located separately Friday in Tuolumne County, according to Stockton police spokesman Joseph Silva.

They were interviewed by Stockton police homicide detectives overnight. Paz was later arrested on suspicion of homicide, Silva said.

Their location followed the Thursday arrest of Bryan Scott Cook, 38, who is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of homicide. He was arrested at a campsite in Groveland.

Stockton police said they received a tip Thursday about a possible homicide on the 4500 block of Mist Trail Drive, in the Weston Ranch area of Stockton. Investigators found what they believed was a homicide scene and launched an investigation.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office assisted in locating Cook at the campsite, Stockton police said.

Sheriff's deputies found a human torso in a campfire and detained Cook, according to the statement.

The location of the campsite was not revealed.

Stockton police obtained a warrant for the campsite and, in addition to the torso, they found pieces of the dismembered body in Cook's vehicle, the statement said.

The victim has not been identified.

The investigation is still ongoing, and Stockton police ask anyone with further information to contact the department at 937-8377, Crime Stoppers at 946-0600 or submit a tip on the department's Facebook page.

Records show Cook has been arrested on numerous occasions in Tuolumne County, for crimes ranging from drug possesion to recieving stolen property.

He's perviously listed a Mi-Wuk Village address.
