Medical center planned in Angels

PUBLIC MEETING: Angels Camp Planning Commission, 6 p.m. Thursday, May 29, Angels Fire House, 1404 Vallecito Road.

The Angels Camp Planning Commission next week will consider Mark Twain Medical Center’s plans to build a new, two-story medical clinic.

The 15,416 square-foot clinic, which would replace Mark Twain’s family medical center at 222 S. Main St. in Angels Camp, would be built on Dogtown Road near the intersection of Highways 4 and 49.

“Since I’ve been here, it’s the biggest project square-footage-wise,” said David Hanham, the city’s planning director for the past six years.

The new outpatient medical clinic is proposed to have a family medical center and other services on the first floor, while physical therapy, an imaging area and conference room will be on the second floor.

Twenty-four employees, including doctors and physician assistants, are expected to work at the clinic.

Plans include 101 parking spaces.
