PUBLIC MEETING: Angels Camp City Council, 6 p.m. Tuesday, 1404 Vallecito Road, Angels Camp.
Angels Camp could be one step closer this week to new sidewalks near Mark Twain Elementary School.
The city was awarded state funds from the Safe Route to School program to construct sidewalks on Stanislaus and San Joaquin avenues near the school.
The grant will pay 90 percent of the project’s cost.
The low bidder was Stockton-based MCI Engineering with a total construction cost of $222,629.
At Tuesday’s Angels Camp City Council meeting, council members will vote on whether to award the contract to MCI.
Design and other work associated with the project bring the total cost of the project to an estimated $352,629. Of that amount, the city will pay 10 percent — roughly $35,000.
