A Greeley Hill man caused quite a stir Thursday afternoon when he rode through downtown Sonora on a jet black horse.
Thane Suderman, who said he’s been mostly confined to his home for the past 10 years due to a medical condition, was on his way to Sacramento to protest the rural fire fee imposed by the state this year to cover state fire-suppression costs in rural areas.
“We can’t do anything anymore without asking permission from Big Brother,” lamented Suderman while standing next to his steed, Jess, on South Washington Street.
He left his home on Wednesday for the planned six-day trip on horseback to the state capitol, where he wants to give an 11-page speech railing against policies he opposed, including the fire fee and “Obamacare.”
