A Twain Harte woman accused of killing Sonora’s Ricky Roberts pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge at a court appearance Wednesday.

Cheryl Lynn Lucero, 45, was arraigned in Tuolumne County Superior Court.

During her brief appearance, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in Department 4.

Lucero looked at the ground while Roberts’ widow, Teddi Roberts, looked straight at her as deputies led her out of the courtroom.

Roberts’ mother, Donna Burkey, and others were also seated behind the prosecution at the hearing.

If convicted Lucero faces 50 years to life in prison, Tuolumne County District Attorney Mike Knowles said.
