A woman injured in a Jamestown auto accident earlier this week was in fair condition at a Modesto hospital Thursday.
Cindy Pender, 19, of Jamestown, the passenger in the crash, was airlifted Tuesday to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries.
California Highway Patrol Officer Nick Norton said she had severe bone fractures.
The driver, John McAllister, 18, of Jamestown, was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with moderate injuries. He has since been released.
The single car crash was reported about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday on Jamestown Road, just south of Golf Links Road.
McAllister was driving a 1993 Honda Civic south when he came to a right-hand curve in the road and lost control, the CHP reported.
The CHP said McAllister was driving too fast and traveled into the right shoulder. He overcorrected and the right side of the two-door sedan collided with a utility pole in the left shoulder.
McAllister’s exact speed was still unknown Thursday. The posted speed limit is 35 mph.
Both were wearing seatbelts, CHP said.
