Four teenagers were injured Thursday afternoon when their vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in Valley Springs.
About 1 p.m., California Highway Patrol received a report of a wreck on Lower Double Springs Road near Highway 12.
CHP Officer Tim Hinkson said Austin Greenough, 19, of Valley Springs, was driving a 1965 Chevy Malibu east on Double Springs Road at an unsafe speed and lost control.
The vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a telephone pole and fence, and rotated before coming to a rest upright.
Hinkson said the exact speed is unknown but it was over the posted speed limit of 55 mph.
One passenger, Justin Harris, 18, of Valley Springs, was transported by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center and airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Greenough and the two other passengers had minor injuries and were not transported to a hospital, Hinkson said. One was identified as Austin Rowe, 19, of Valley Springs.
CHP did not release the identity of the third passenger Thursday afternoon because he is under 18 years old.
The vehicle was not equipped with seat belts or airbags.
AT&T responded to repair the telephone pole.
