Most local Forest Service roads and trails will be closed to the public from Dec. 16 through April 14 of next year, the U.S. Forest Service announced Tuesday.
The roads and trails are now too wet to travel without causing damage, according to a release from Stanislaus National Forest.
A revised Stanislaus National Forest “Motor Vehicle Use Map” is now available to the public.
Some Forest Service roads are open year-round, but they are not maintained for use in winter or wet weather. The Forest Services advises drivers to drive cautiously and watch for rocks, snow and ice.
Motor Vehicle Use Maps are available at all U.S. Forest Service and ranger district offices. They can also be found online at www.fs.usda.gov/stanislaus.
