A
structure fire at the Jenny Lind Restaurant, formerly the Columbia
House, at Columbia State Historic Park was reported at 6:24 p.m. Sunday
night.
Paul
Speer, assistant county fire warden for Tuolumne County Fire, said
multiple reports were made on the fire, and the cause is under
investigation.
Cal
Fire Battalion Chief Nick Casci said 75 percent of the structure was
destroyed, but fire crews were able to save 25 percent of the building,
which houses Angelo’s Hall.
Engines
from Cal Fire in Calaveras County, Tuolumne County Fire’s Jamestown station, the Columbia Fire Department and Sonora City Fire Department responded. Also
on scene were two water tenders, a battalion chief and division chief.
Read tomorrow’s Union Democrat for more information on the blaze.
