Firefighters are getting a handle on the El Portal Fire — now at 19 percent containment — and the evacuations for Old El Portal have been lifted.
The fire's total spread was only about 400 acres all of Monday, day and night, putting the total acreage burned now at 3,060, according to the Yosemite Call Center this morning.
Still only one structure has been confirmed to be lost. Fifty-eight people in 31 homes are now in the process of moving back home into Old El Portal after its evacuation order was lifted at 9 a.m., according to the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office.
Foresta remains under evacuation.
Big Oak Flat Road into Yosemite Valley from Highway 120 remains closed. All other roads are open, including Highway 120 itself, leading to the upper park.
Fire personnel on the incident numbered 640 this morning.
