Ebbetts Pass over Highway 4 is to reopen at noon Friday after being closed by a spring snowstorm Monday morning.
"We got about 10 inches of snow Monday," said Michael Barrington, Caltrans supervisor based at Camp Connell, "and another two to three inches Tuesday, but a lot of it has melted by now."
It will be the second opening of the season for the pass, which is traditionally closed during snowy months.
It opened for the first time this year on Friday, April 26, but Caltrans officials shut the gate Monday morning during a wet, heavy snowfall a move typical at this time of year.
Warm temperatures the past few days have helped snow removal crews make short work of clearing the pass again, said Barrington.
The National Weather Service forecast is for mostly clear skies and dry weather to continue through Tuesday.
In the foothills, high temperatures are expected to be in the 60s and 70s through Tuesday, with low overnight temperatures in the 30s and 40s.
Sonora Pass over Highway 108 is on track to open for the season Wednesday, May 10, said Caltrans Superintendent Louis Kuntz earlier this week.
No opening date has yet been set for Tioga Pass over Highway 120.
The decision about when to open that pass is made by Yosemite National Park officials.
