Chinese Camp house burns

A fire early this morning destroyed most of a home in Chinese Camp.

The Tuolumne County Fire Department received a call about 2:47 a.m. regarding the blaze on the 13000 block of Red Hills Road.

A nearby motor home first caught fire before the flames spread to the one-story, 1,600-square-foot house.

The fire was contained about two hours later and completely controlled by 6:03 a.m.
Cal Fire assisted Tuolumne County fire crews battle the blaze.

Tuolumne County Fire officials said the home was about 75 percent destroyed. Damage to the structure was estimated at about $200,000.

The owners were not living in the home at the time because it was under renovation, according to the Tuolumne County Fire Department.
