Blasts expected at Carson Hill

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department warned area residents that they may hear explosions this morning from Carson Hill.

Blasts were to be done for a “Make-A-Wish” event in which an ill 8-year-old boy requested to see explosives in action.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department about having its bomb squad fulfill the wish. The County Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit agreed to assist with a series of small blasts.

The department has previously used the site to help makers of the Discovery Channel show “Mythbusters” test theories.
