A 12-year-old-boy has been arrested in connection with the April 27 stabbing death of his sister in Valley Springs.
The boy, whose name is being withheld by The Union Democrat, was arrested by the Calaveras County Sherif's Office at 5:10 pm. Saturday at the Valley Springs Sheriff's Office substation, said Sheriff Gary Kuntz.
The boy is accused of killing Leila Fowler. 8, at the family home. The boy called his parents about noon April 27, saying an intruder was in the house and that his sister had been stabbed.
Leila Fowler was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about 1 p.m.
Investigators for the past two weeks have concentrated their search around the Fowler home, on the 5600 block of Rippon Road. Notably, dive teams have combed ponds around the home and FBI blood hounds have search surrounding areas.
Few details were available. The boy was charged as a minor. Search warrant information filed at the Calaveras County Superior Court has been sealed.
