Leases for three new cell phone tower sites, amendments to a draft water element for the county General Plan, and a review of possible federal bailout money are among items on a busy Wednesday agenda for the Calaveras County Water District.
The telecommunication sites at the West Point Water Treatment Plant, Big Trees Village in Arnold, and near the Heather Water Tank in Forest Meadows are located on CCWD property to be leased by Golden State Cellular. The addition of the towers is expected to improve phone service to some of the more mountainous and remote areas of the county.
The draft water element document contains changes agreed to in a Dec. 17 study session. The document addresses a variety of water issues to be included in the County General Plan Update. The General Plan is a guide for land use and development in the county for decades to come.
CCWD has invested more than $130,000 in the document and has met with representatives of water and wastewater districts in drafting the element.
