Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital gets digital ER update

An effort by community advocates has brought digital technology to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital’s emergency room sooner than anticipated.
Persistent lobbying by resident Carol Crosby led the hospital to acquire high resolution monitors that emergency room physicians can use to read digital images, like CT scans, MRIs and X-rays.
And the availability is immediate. The digital images are available immediately after the imaging procedure is completed.
The high-resolution monitors “provide greater confidence with the diagnosis,” said radiologist Dr. Lincoln Russin in a statement.
“These new high resolution monitors allow the emergency room physicians to develop treatment plans faster and more confidently; resulting in better patient outcomes.”
Emergency physician Dr. Marc Walter commented, “The digital images are much clearer and do not lose resolution when the image is enlarged. The new monitors have really made a difference for our patients”.
Crosby worked closely with Mark Twain Health Care District Board Director Dave Tanner to move the project along.
“I felt the technology would be of benefit for our community,” she said. “The images are incredible. I was proud to be a part of the process.”
