The public and the business community is invited to attend the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce Trade Faire in Sonora on Thursday.
Up to 30 local businesses will be featured in the annual fair to display their services and products. The free event is hosted by the Chamber’s Ambassador Committee, and visitors can enjoy free finger food and drinks available for purchase.
A prize will be awarded for best Halloween costume and there will be prize drawings featuring gifts from participating businesses.
The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Manzanita Building at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive. Call the Tuolumne Chamber of Commerce at 532-4212 for more information.
The University of California Forest Research and Outreach will have a two-part workshop series, “Ties to the Land,” for those interested in passing their land on to the next generation.
The first workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Tuolumne County Ambulance and Training Facility, 18440 Striker Court, Sonora.
The workshop will focus on succession planning steps and clarifying goals and values. Topics to be discussed include the steps needed to pass property along to your heirs, and how to clarify your values and goals for the family property.
The second workshop, which will be held in 2012 will cover the financial and legal approaches for succession planning.
The cost of the first workshop is $25 per family, which covers the cost of the workbook and DVD.

The Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce’s nominating committee is accepting applications from anyone interested in service on the chamber’s Board of Directors as a director or officer.
Those who serve on the board must agree to accept the responsibility of adirectorship should he or she be elected. All nominees should be present at the Nov. 3 board meeting and should submit a brief, 100 word or less, statement of their qualifications.
The initial term of a director is three years. Officer positions on the board include secretary and treasurer. The president and president-elect must have previously served on the board.

The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce has re-named its annual golf tournament to honor late Angels Camp mayor and Chamber director Jack Boeding.
The Jack Boeding Memorial Golf Tournament will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinitas Golf Club, 9209 Ospital Road, Valley Springs.
Boeding served on the Chamber of Commerce from 2004 until his death last month and received the Herb Hansen Award in 2009 for outstanding service. He regularly took part in the chamber golf tournaments, and a trophy for this year’s winning team will be given in his name.
