Business notes for May 11, 2011

Twain Harte Horsemen

    The Twain Harte Horsemen will have a camping and trail riding weekend May 20 through 22 at the Mother Lode Ranch, 15995 Wards Ferry Road, Sonora.
    The ranch can be accessed starting May 20 and everyone is free to explore the riding trails. A spaghetti dinner will be served at 6 p.m. that night.
    Organized trail rides will be held at 10 a.m. May 21 and 22. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
    Breakfast and lunch will be served May 21 and 22. Dinner will be served May 20 and 21.
    There will be music, dancing and a 50/50 raffle during dinner May 21.
    The cost is $65 per person, which includes meals, rides and camping for the entire weekend. Children under 12 eat free, but a reservation is needed for an accurate food count.

Wine awards

    Gianelli Vineyards and Winery won a gold medal for its 2008 Dolcetto and silver medals for its 2008 Nino and 2009 Vermentino at the Calaveras County Fair.

Annual Women’s Business Expo

    The Tuolumne County Women’s Network will have its annual Women’s Business Expo at 5 p.m. May 18 at  Mount Brow Winery, 10850 Mountain Brow Road, Sonora.
    Food and wine will be available including a drawing for a complimentary night at the Sonora Oaks Best Western in a king-size suite for all those in attendance.
    Reservations must be made to attend the expo.

Conference

    The 140 Characters Conference – Central Sierra will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 24 at Black Oak Elementary School, 18995 Twain Harte Drive, Twain Harte.
    The cost is $89 per ticket, and for nonprofit organizations the cost is $20 per ticket and a $1.49 processing fee.
    The conference explores the effects of social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others) and the emerging real-time Internet on individuals, organizations and regions. The goal is to bring together a diverse group of people to share their perspectives, experiences and stories about how the real-time Internet is affecting their industry sectors and the people inside them.
    Presentations are limited to 10-20 minutes each, with no PowerPoint presentations, to permit as many people as possible to share their stories. Presenters are selected to stimulate discussion across a wide range of sectors including business, agriculture, government, tourism, education, entertainment, nonprofit and more.
    A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency Digital Literacy Program.

Job Fair

    San Joaquin Delta College and San Joaquin County will have its annual WorkNet Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18 in Danner Hall at San Joaquin Delta College, 5151 Pacific Avenue, Stockton.
    Employers representing more than 20 businesses in the health care, service, retail and technical trade industries will be attending. The San Joaquin Human Resource Association will also be available to critique resumes and conduct mock job interviews.
    Those attending should bring a resume and dress to impress.
