New location, anniversary

    The Occasion Station Consignment & Cache’ in Jamestown has celebrated its one year anniversary and has recently relocated.
    The business will open Thursday in its new location at 157 S. Washington St., downtown Sonora, formerly known as The Miner’s Shack.
    New business hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Free tax help

    The American Association of Retired Persons tax aide program is offering free tax preparation and assistance for taxpayers of middle to low income through April 15.
    People do not have to be a member of AARP or a retiree older than 60 to utilize the service, a press statement said. Services are performed by volunteers who are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service in partnership with AARP. 
    The tax assistance sites in Calaveras County include Rabo Bank in Arnold, Foothill Village in Angels Camp, Pizza Factory in Valley Springs and the Calaveras County Senior Center in San Andreas.
    To make an appointment, call 795-8208 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Tax assistance at Columbia College
 
    Members of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program are available to help people prepare their income taxes for free through April 17 at Columbia College and the Tuolumne County Senior Center.
    VITA volunteers are available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (except March 29) from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on a walk-in basis, in Manzanita 18-1 at the Columbia College campus; and, on Saturdays by appointment only at the Tuolumne County Senior Center, at 540 Greenley Road, Sonora.

Women’s
network

    Rex Osborn, a seasoned trainer with 30-plus years experience as a trainer in government, private business and as a college professor, will be in Sonora soon to speak to the Tuolumne County Women’s Network.
    The meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Peppery Gar & Brill in East Sonora. The $20 fee includes a buffet dinner. Call 536-6336 for reservations.
    Osborn’s program, “Leadership, Your Point of View,” is researched-based by the Ken Blanchard Company. Osborn is an independent consultant with Blanchard.
