The Calaveras Visitors Bureau presented its Innovations in Tourism Award to Suki Tutthill, owner of Calaveras Concierge, at its annual dinner Oct. 5 at Irish Family Vineyards in Vallecito.
The award recognizes a local business each year that has demonstrated the foresight to promote tourism in Calaveras County through new or unique ideas, products or services.
Calaveras Concierge is a customized tour business that works with incoming groups of all sizes. Tutthill not only plans itineraries, but often joins the group as their tour guide.
“Suki’s passion and enthusiasm for Calaveras County is what makes this business so perfect for her and so beneficial for Calaveras County,” stated Lisa Mayo, executive director of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau, in a news release.
Past recipients of the award include Anna Gutierrez and her GoCalaveras Rack Brochure Distribution Program, Ironstone Vineyards, Cave and Mine Adventures, Outdoor Adventure River Specialists and Bear Valley Mountain Resort.
In addition to the Innovations in Tourism Award, the Calaveras Visitors Bureau also presented, for the first time, an award for Outstanding Calaveras Ambassador. The inaugural recipient of this award is Mary Ann Jackson of Cave and Mine Adventures. Jackson manages the Visitor Information Center in downtown Murphys that has been provided as a free service to the local business community by Cave and Mine Adventures for the past two years.
