Brooke’s Closet opens in Sonora

Brooke’s Closet consignment store recently opened in East Sonora.
Located at 13681 Mono Way, the store opened Oct. 18 and sells mostly women’s clothing, according to the business’s owner, Lisa Ballard.
Brooke’s Closet takes its name from Ballard’s daughter, and the store also offers a tanning bed service.
The 1,500-square-foot store carries brands like Guess, Ink, Calvin Kline and DKNY. The store splits the sale price of the clothing with 45 percent going to people who bring clothes in, Ballard said.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday and will hold a grand opening this Saturday. For more information, call 532-1343.

Local artisans will sell unique animal-related art and for “treasure hunters,” the store also will feature high-quality, gently-used items including clothing and accessories, household items, books, toys and jewelry.
Visitors to the store will also find a new line of Calaveras Humane Society custom-designed apparel including T-shirts, hoodies and hats, as well as a full line of Calaveras Humane Society-branded items like fanny packs, traveler mugs, shopping bags and more.
Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The Society will celebrate the store’s grand opening on Friday, Nov. 25.
The new Society headquarters and Wags & Purrs store are at 576 E. St. Charles St. and Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas. In addition to the retail space, it includes a cat and dog adoption center and the Society offices where Calaveras County residents can get spay/neuter certificates and information.
