Several Tuolumne County schools closed early today due to high winds and loss of power.
Sonora Elementary School District sent out an e-mail to parents at 11:35 a.m. announcing the planned early closure of the after-school program today.
The After School Program will be closing at 4 p.m. due to high winds and the chance of a power loss. Parents were asked to pick up their children by 4 p.m.
Summerville High School closed school at 11:30 a.m. and sent students home.
School officials are watching the weather in anticipation of a possible closure Friday.
Twain Harte School also closed at 8 a.m. this morning, however Pinecrest School is still open.
Curtis Creek School closed school this morning due to a lack of power or phone service. A mass message sent to parents asked parents to pick up students at the school. The regular bus route will still run to take students home, whose parents could not pick them up.
Soulsbyville School is open but allowing parents to check students out early. The regular bus is going to run at the usual time.
