Harry ‘Pete’ Kimball April 26, 1920 — Feb. 19, 2010 La Grange resident Harry “Pete” Kimball died Feb. 19 at a VA Hospice Unit in Livermore. He was 89. He was born in Auburn, N.Y., to Marguerite and Harry O. Kimball Sr. and raised in New York. In January 1943 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served three years in England during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he and his wife, Helen, moved to Torrance. He worked as an engineer for Wylie Aircraft for several years then he moved to Sunnyvale, where he worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed. After 23 years, he retired from Lockheed in 1982 and he and his wife moved to La Grange. They spent many years in La Grange on their houseboat, water-skiing and camping. He was a member of Lake Don Pedro Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. Mr. Kimball is survived by his wife, Helen Kimball, of La Grange; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Morry Arbini, of Loveland, Colo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Linda Kimball, of San Jose, and Michael and Kathy Kimball-Sanders, of Sebring, Fla.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service was scheduled at 11 a.m. today at Lake Don Pedro Baptist Church, followed by burial at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson. Frank Menacho Feb. 11, 1930 — Feb. 13, 2010 Groveland resident Frank Menacho died Feb. 13 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 80. Born in Santa Clara, he had lived in Groveland for 19 years. He worked as a mechanical engineer for FMC Corp. in San Jose for 21 years. A member of Groveland Evangelical Free Church, he enjoyed woodworking, golfing and helping others. Mr. Menacho is survived by his wife, Norma Menacho, of Groveland; a son, Dennis Menacho, of Stockton; a daughter, Sandra Eggebraaten, of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Rose Niemann, of Santa Clara; grandchildren, Brad Eggebraaten, of Boise, and Lindsey Sorenson, of Nampa, Idaho; and a great-grandchild. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Groveland Evangelical Free Church. Donations can be made to ALS Foundation, 2717 Cottage Way, Suite 8, Sacramento, CA 95825. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. Suzanne Morehouse Nov. 29, 1944 — Feb. 19, 2010 Sonora resident Suzanne Morehouse died Feb. 19 at her home. She was 65. She was born in Brawley, and had lived in Sonora for 24 years. She worked at as a baker in a doughnut shop for 10 years. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Bewsey, of San Juan Capistrano; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. No local services are planned. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. James Byron Wood Sr. Jan. 4, 1933 — Feb. 20, 2010 Sonora resident James Byron Wood Sr. died Saturday at his home. He was 77. Born in Cleveland, he had lived in Sonora for 33 years. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans of Sonora and Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers, where he was a caretaker for 15 years. He also worked as a custodian at Columbia College for 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed vacationing, fishing and traveling cross-country with his family. Mr. Wood is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Sandy Wood, and Jim Jr. and Denise Wood, all of Sonora, and John and Kathy Wood, of Jamestown; a daughter, Grace Wood, of Santee; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Wood, of Austin, Texas; and a niece. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen Wood. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. Hope B. Perkins Dec. 22, 1922 — Feb. 19, 2010 Sonora resident Hope B. Perkins died Feb. 19 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 87. Born in Bethel, Maine, she had lived in Sonora for 25 years. She enjoyed volunteering and helping people. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Stephen J. Smith, of La Grange; grandchildren, Steven DeLay, of Reno, Nev., and Linda Ernster, of Modesto; stepgrandson, Stephen J. Smith I, of Modesto; and five great-grandchildren. No services are scheduled. MILLER — John W.H. Miller, 85, of Angels Camp died Feb. 15 at his home. A service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Foothill Community Church in Angels Camp. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. RIEDEL — Susanna Martha Riedel, 102, of Columbia died Sunday at her home. A vigil is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sonora.
