Molloy appointed to seat on TH board |
After a series of votes, Gordon Molloy, of Twain Harte, was appointed Thursday by a 3-2 vote to the Twain Harte Community Services District Board of Directors. He was one of three candidates for the seat vacated by Bill Bryant, who resigned Oct. 20 after 40-plus years in public life. Bryant cited personal reasons for his departure. The directors had to appoint a replacement this month or the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors would appoint someone for them, District Manager Scot Moody said. Molloy was one of three candidates for the seat. Moody said Director Richard Knudson first nominated Wes Jordan, of Twain Harte, but the motion failed for lack of a second. Then Director Jim Johnson nominated Molloy. That ended in a tie, with Director Jeri Graydon and Knudson voting against. Johnson and Director John Kinsfather voted for Molloy the first time around. Graydon then nominated Rohn Mein, of Twain Harte. She and Kinsfather voted for Mein, while Johnson and Knudson abstained. That made it even between Molloy and Mein, Moody said after the meeting. “They had some discussion about having to make a decision now if they didn’t want the supervisors to make it for them,” Moody said. Then Johnson again nominated Molloy and Graydon switched her vote, making it 3-2 for Molloy. Molloy said in a profile he prepared for the meeting that his years of marketing experience combined with his community involvement in Twain Harte made him a prime candidate for serving on the board. His 35-year-plus career was spent mainly in the field of advertising and marketing until his retirement in 1997 as director of marketing and advertising for the Lucas Dealership Group in Cupertino. He and his wife retired to their Twain Harte cabin the same year. He spent several years on the boards of the Twain Harte Homeowners Association and Twain Harte Lake Association.
He served six years with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Community
Service Unit in various management positions, including boat patrol
supervisor, assistant executive director, acting executive director and
deputy director. |
