Several injured in p.m. crash on Cherokee Road |
Several people were injured in a single-car accident Tuesday night in the Tuolumne area, the California Highway Patrol reported. The accident, on Cherokee Road south of Nonies Road, was reported at 10:22 p.m. Michael E. Moungovan, 26, of Rohnert Park, was driving a 2002 Ford Excursion north on Cherokee about 40 to 45 mph when the car drifted off the road’s eastern edge, spun and then overturned, coming to rest on it right side, partially blocking northbound traffic, CHP said.
Moungovan, who was pinned in the car until freed by firefighters,
was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center with major injuries, and
was later transferred to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto.
Passengers in the car were:
• Amanda Bartholomew, 25, of Tuolumne, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sonora Regional.
• Rebecca Sargo, 23, of Jamestown, who was reportedly uninjured.
• Kate Moungovan, 24, of Sebastopol, who suffered major injuries
and was taken to Sonora Regional and then transferred to Doctor’s.
• Oliver Cunneen, 27, of Blenheim, New Zealand, who suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Sonora Regional. |
