Two fires reported overnight

Two fires were reported in Tuolumne County overnight.

An unattended candle burning was listed as the cause of a fire reported on the 15400 block of El Mapache Lane in the Phoenix Lake area at 6:30 p.m. Friday, said Mary Jo Boone of Cal Fire dispatch in San Andreas.

She said the fire caused about $25,000 worth of damage to the residence and $30,000 to contents. The American Red Cross was called to help the residents.

Another fire, this one in the Sonora city limits, was reported at 1:45 a.m. Saturday. It started in a chimney and spread to the attic of a residence on the 100 block of Norlin Street, Boone said.
