Three flee Mono Way accident |
Police are looking for three people who fled a three-car collision on Mono Way Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred at 2:56 p.m. near the 1200 block of Mono Way. The first vehicle, a gray sports utility vehicle of unknown type, struck a sedan, which collided into a green Toyota Forerunner, according to Sgt. Turu Vanderwiel of the Sonora Police Department. The gray SUV fled the scene, and the police later found the vehicle on Greenley Road, but not the driver. The driver of the sedan pulled the car off the road and then the driver and passenger exited the car and fled on foot. The driver of the Forerunner drove himself to Greenley and flagged down a California Highway Patrol officer. The driver then went to Sonora Regional Medical Center to get treated for minor back pain. Sonora Police have identified the vehicles and are investigating who was driving the sedan and gray SUV. Some of the registered owners have suspended licenses, Vanderwiel said, but there is no evidence that the owners were driving the vehicles at this time. Anyone with information can call the Sonora Police Department at 532-8143. |
