Carl Bougher
July 28, 1922 — Oct. 27, 2009

    Carl Bougher died Oct. 27 at his Sonora home. He was 87.
    A native of Logansport, Ind., Mr. Bougher retired after 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, then spent another 38 years as an outside plant engineer for the General Telephone Co. He was a 31-year resident of Sonora.
    His family said he loved to spin tales and tell war stories.
    He is survived by his wife, Lottie “Loree” Bougher, of Sonora; children, Steve L. Bougher, of Copperopolis, Janice R. Moore, of Sonora, Jen Sheridan, of Oakley, Francine “Pete” Dunlop, of Kentucky, Matt Bougher, of Virginia; one grandson she raised, Brian Bougher, of Kentucky; four other grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
    No services are planned. Heuton Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

Jerrell Lloyd Butler
April 13, 1929 — Oct. 26, 2009

    Jerrell Lloyd Butler died Oct. 26 at his Sonora home. He was 80.
    A native of Bristow, Okla., Mr. Butler lived in Sonora for 52 years. He was a painting and building contractor.
    His hobbies included playing bluegrass music and fishing.
    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Butler, of Sonora; children, Roger Butler, of Sonora, Marcus Butler, of Sonora, and Karen Tynan, of Modesto; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jack Butler, of Los Banos, Betty Strachan, of Mississippi, and James Butler, of Mississippi.
    No services are planned. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Harger
Feb. 11, 1934 — Oct. 27, 2009

    Geraldine “Jerry” (Edgecombe) Harger died Oct. 27, at her La Grange home, surrounded by family and friends. She was 75.
    She was born in Decatur, Ill., where she lived until her parents and aunt and uncle packed up a small car and headed west for California. They settled first in the Bay Area, where she graduated from San Mateo High School in 1952. The family eventually moved to Sacramento, where she later met and married Joseph Harger, a cowboy.
    They moved to La Grange and started the Flying J Ranch, where they enjoyed ropings. Her other passions included painting, family, friends, animals and the occasional gambling trip.
    She fought breast cancer for more than 20 years.
    She was preceded in death by her siblings, Butch Edgecombe and Janet Burnett; and her parents.
    Mrs. Harger is survived by her husband, Joseph Harger, of La Grange; five children, Joe Harger, of North Carolina, Jimmy Harger, of La Grange, Debbie Harger, of Sacramento, Anita Harger, of Walnut Creek, and Michael Harger, of England; 10 grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews; siblings, Karen Cruise, of Sacramento, Debra Stearns, of Sacramento, and Darlene Wilson, of Missouri; and many cousins.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora. Burial will follow at Mountain Shadow Cemetery. Terzich and Wilson is handling arrangements.

Jack Urquhart
May 5, 1943 — Oct. 26, 2009

    Jack Urquhart, a 23-year resident of Groveland, died Oct. 26 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. He was 66.
     Mr. Urquhart was a psychiatric technician for 25 years as a California state employee.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Coy Urquhart, in 2003;  a brother, Steve Urquhart, in 1985; and a daughter, Cassandra, in 1967.
    Survivors include his mother, Doris Urquhart, of Groveland; two sons, Peter Urquhart, of San Raphael, and Chad Urquhart, of Santa Rosa; two granddaughters, Kayla Urquhart and Chloe Urquhart, both of Santa Rosa; his ex-wife, Dolly Urquhart, of San Rafael; and a nephew, Paul Urquhart, of Santa Rosa; his aunt, Dorothy Wothe, of Groveland; his cousin and wife, Lee and Sandy Wothe, of Groveland; and their son, John Wothe, of Groveland.
    A graveside service was scheduled at 1 p.m. today at Oak Grove Cemetery. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Jason Lee Thompson
July 6, 1977 — Oct. 26, 2009

    Jason Lee Thompson died Oct. 26 at his Valley Springs home. He was 32.
    A native of Hayward, he moved to Arnold in 1982, then to Lake Camanche in 2001, and settled in Valley Springs in 2004.
    He was a plumber and computer technician. One of his interests was spending time with his dog, Chewie, who died in 2008.
    Mr. Thompson is survived by his mother, Penelope Barnes, of Valley Springs; his father, Phillip L. Thompson, of Sebastopol; aunts, Julie Hernandez, of Canton, Ga., and Pamela Potter, of Stebbins, Ark.; cousins, Victor Hernandez, of Fresno, Michael Hernandez, of Palo Alto, and Jamie Hernandez, of Fresno; and a great-uncle, Wally Gottesman, of Hawaii, and cousin, Joey Gottesman, of Hawaii.
     A celebration of life will be held at a later date. San Andreas Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.


Marie Estelle Wood
Oct. 2, 1949 — Oct. 18, 2009

    Marie Estelle Wood, a 37-year resident of Tuolumne County, died Oct. 18 at a Folsom hospital. She was 60.
     She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and moved from Ohio to Tuolumne County at the age of 23. She was employed at Sierra Conservation Center for 17 years, retiring as a ser-geant.
     Her family said she helped others in need throughout her life. Her interests included gardening, karaoke, hosting barbecues and spending time with family and friends. Much of her adult life was spent with her numerous grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her mother, Lavera Gummer; and her son-in-law, Larry “Doug” Seagraves.
     She is survived by her children, TinaMarie Seagraves and fiance, Tom Donne, of Sonora, Nathaniel and Jaime Carney, of Sonora, Jason and Trisha Revord, of Sonora, and Michelle Carney and Richard Parungao, of Tuolumne; grandchildren, Lance Seagraves, of Twain Harte, Luke Seagraves and Chelsy Hogue, of Sonora, Alexander and Ryan Carney, of Tuolumne, and Charlie Revord, Javin Revord and Malia Revord, all of Sonora; stepchildren, Jim Revord, Kim and Curt Sutton, Cari and Clayton Miller, and Shannon Randi, all of Sonora; brother and sister-in-law, Meric and Minnie Pastor, of Reno, Nev.; and 14 other grandchildren by marriage.
    A celebration of life potluck will be held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Sonora Moose Lodge, 20921 Longeway Road.
