Betty Horner
April 23, 1938 — Sept. 22, 2009

    Betty Horner died Sept. 22 at her Sonora home. She was 71.
    Born in Wisconsin, she lived in Sonora for 17 years. She was homemaker for 51 years.
    She was a member of the women’s auxiliary of Cedar Ridge Volunteer Fire Company and the Sonora A’s Model A Club. Quilting was among her other interests.
    She is survived by her mother, Ann Trottier, of Wisconsin; husband, Rudolph Horner, of Sonora; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Horner, of Manteca; two sons, Steven Horner and his wife, Judi, of Los Angeles, and Donald Horner, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, James Fait, of Wisconsin; and a sister, Rosemary Kautz, of Wisconsin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Church in Mi-Wuk Village. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Bruce Johnson
June 13, 1962 — Oct. 8, 2009

    Bruce Johnson died at his Coulterville home on Oct. 8. He was 47.
    Mr. Johnson was born in La Mesa, San Diego County. He had lived in Coulterville for three years and was a carpenter for 15 years.
    His interests include Boy Scouts of America, the mountains, animals, camping, NASCAR races and tie-dying.
    Mr. Johnson is survived by his girlfriend and caregiver, Robin Jones, of Coulterville; his mother, Edna Lee Johnson, of Lakeside in San Diego County; three brothers, Richard “Rick” Johnson, of La Mesa, David Johnson, of El Cajon in San Diego County, and Glenn Johnson, of Etna in Siskiyou County; and one sister, Laura Taylor, of Alpine.
    Services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to Mariposa Hospice, 5108 Highway 140, Mariposa, CA 95338, Lakeside Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 9908 Channel Road, Lakeside, CA 92040, or Wildwood Community Church, 10348 Fiske Road, Coulterville, CA 95311-9502.

Kenneth Martin ‘Kenny’ Blea
March 4, 1957 — Oct. 12, 2009

    Kenneth Martin “Kenny” Blea died Oct. 12 at his Jamestown home of cancer. He was 52.
    A gardener, Mr. Blea attended Jamestown Christian Fellowship. His family said he was known for his love and laughter.
    He was preceded in death by this mother, Patricia Gardener, and by a brother, Victor Blea.
    He is survived by his wife, Andrea Blea, of Tuolumne; children, Angelina Blea, Amelia Blea and Steven Shaffer, of Tuolumne; siblings, Seven Blea, of San Jose,  Karen Talbot, of Arizona, Donna Garcia, of Manteca, Janet Blea, of Hollister, David Blea, of San Jose, and Joanne Berry, of Los Gatos.
    No services are planned. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Bee Cilenti
Jan. 30, 1925 — Oct. 12, 2009

    Bee Cilenti, of San Andreas, died Oct. 12 at a San Andreas convalescent hospital. She was 84.
    Mrs. Cilenti was born in Denver and raised in Sterling, Colo., by adoptive parents A.E. and Grace Slama. After high school, she worked at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard in Washington State, where she met John Cilenti.
    They were married in November 1944 and moved to Calaveras County after he was discharged from the Army, joining his very large extended family, who lived in the Jesus Maria and Rail Road Flat area, moving away from the Cilenti family ranch in 1956 to their own ranch in West Point.
    They moved to the Sonora area in 1962 and then to Turlock, where she worked for the Grange Credit Union and the Rolling F. Credit Union.
    They were very active in the Grange in Calaveras, Tuolumne and Stanislaus counties, as well as the California Grange and National Grange.
    After many years away, they returned to Calaveras County, where she worked for the Golden State Credit Union until she retired.
    She then became a volunteer with the Mark Twain St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, becoming a lifetime member. She worked on arts and crafts for fundraising projects, covered the hospital information desk and made “mommy baskets” for new mothers.
    She was president of the auxiliary while the new hospital was being built.
    She was a member of the San Andreas Community Covenant Church, both before moving to West Point and after returning to Calaveras County. She sang in the choir for as long as she could and sang solos on several occasions.
    Mrs. Cilenti was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter and son-in-law, Joan Cilenti Baker and Terry Baker; and her granddaughter, Amber.
    She is survived by her son, Michael Cilenti, of Valley Springs; daughter, Jean Cilenti, of San Andreas; grandson, Aaron Baker and his wife, Monica, of Missouri; granddaughter, Audrey Roberts and her husband, Jake, of Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Carmenne Poore and Syd Cilenti, both of San Andreas.
    A memorial service was held Saturday at the San Andreas Community Covenant Church. Donations in her memory may be made to the Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation or Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, in care of the hospital, 768 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA 95249.

Clifford Eugene Collins
May 28, 1935 — Oct. 14, 2009

    Clifford Eugene Collins, of Lake Don Pedro, died Oct. 14 at an Oakdale hospital after a short illness. He was 74.
    Mr. Collins retired in 1990 after 35 years with IBM.
    He coached Little League baseball and was active in sports, hunting, fishing, painting, singing and golf. He served on the board of directors of Lake Don Pedro Community Services District and held numerous positions with the Lake Don Pedro Men’s Golf Club. He was a tenor with the Gold Country Singers.
    Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Reo Collins and Viola (Ingram) Florey; and two sisters, Linda Wellner and Dorothy A. Vieweg.
    He is survived by his wife, Caroline (Holm) Collins, of Lake Don Pedro; three sons, Kevin Collins and his wife, Donna, of Yorkville, Ill., Timothy Collins and his wife, Carrie, of Serena, Ill., and Shayne Collins and his wife, Judy, of Morgan Hill; nine grandsons, Adam, Matthew, Mitchell and Luke Collins, of Illinois, Joshua and Jesse Collins, of Illinois, and David, Stephen, and Kevin Collins, of Morgan Hill; one great-grandson, Caleb Collins, of Illinois; two brothers, Jerry Collins and his wife, Donna, of Danville, Ill., and Rick Collins, of Diamond, Ill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Memorials will be held at Don Pedro Baptist Church and in Illinois. The dates are not yet determined. Neptune Society handled arrangements.

Norman Noble
Jan. 26, 1945 — Oct. 8, 2009

    Norman Noble, of Sonora, died Oct. 8 at a Fresno care center. He was 64.
    Mr. Noble was born in Salinas and had lived in Sonora for 37 years. He was a well driller for 10 years.
    He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and travel.
    Mr. Noble was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Noble, and his half-brother, Alvin Sulieman.
    He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Noble, of Sonora; a brother, Danny Noble, of Watsonville, and a sister, Rilla Higgens, of Modesto.
    Services will be held at a later date. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

    RICHINA — A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora for Stephen Joseph “Stevie” Richina, 57, of Sonora, who died Sept. 29 at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
