Suspected gunshots lead to school lockdown |
Sonora Elementary School was briefly locked down Thursday morning after suspected gunshots were heard off campus. From about 11:22 to 11:25 a.m. two resource teachers reported hearing gunshots in the area behind the north side of the school, not on campus, said Principal Pam Vlach. The school went into immediate lockdown and the Sonora Police Department was called, Vlach said. Police did not find anything and the lockdown was only in effect for about 30 minutes, Vlach said. “The lockdown went really smoothly,” Vlach said, adding that everyone did what they needed to do. When the area was cleared, the lockdown was lifted and the day continued, Vlach said. |
